Week retreat (sesshin)
This week-long extended retreat takes place at the Hudson Valley farm owned by Roshi Janet and Roshi Gregory (now retired). It is open primarily to members of Still Mind Zendo. Each sesshin is limited to 13 participants and is offered twice each summer.
Each day begins at 5:00 am and closes at 9:00 pm. During the day there are several periods of zazen & walking meditation, a daily dharma talk, daisan (private meeting with a teacher), work practice, meals, and time for rest and exercise. Silence is maintained throughout.
Sesshin Details
Dates:
Sunday, June 1 – Saturday June 7, 2025
Sunday, June 22- Saturday June 28, 2025
Cost: $550
(For members with limited income, incremental payments after the sesshin can be arranged with the sesshin registrar.)
The Farm is located in the Hudson Valley, about 2 hours from New York, with bus service from Port Authority to the nearby town of New Paltz . The zendo is located in a 150-year-old barn in the middle of hay fields, so one virtually sits in nature at all times. The evening meals are provided by a local catering company, while all other meals are prepared by members of the sangha as part of daily work practice.
Due to the concentrated nature of a week-long sesshin, the teachers reserve the right to discuss with any registrant his or her readiness for this retreat.
Strict registration deadline for both sesshins: Monday May 5, 2025
Early registration is recommended due to the limited number of spaces available.
Cancellation Policy: No refunds 1 week before sesshin begins unless there is a replacement.
