Thursday Night Circle Discussion

This regular gathering , for SMZ members only, is an opportunity for those who usually meditate together in silence to come together to reflect on, speak about, and discuss a pertinent Zen topic posed by one of our teachers (who also acts as the evening’s facilitator.) The topic may be about Zen practice, a Zen-related text, or events in our world. Zen practitioners can reflect on and speak about important issues directly related to their lives and listen and respond to each other’s views and insights – opening us all up to a larger perspective.
The gathering follows a brief period of zazen, usually on the second Thursday of each month. Please see our calendar for upcoming dates. The focus of the evening’s discussion is sent to members ahead of time and is also posted on the bulletin board at the zendo.
There is no Thursday evening circle during the six weeks of Ango, which takes place between the end of January and the middle of March.
