Thursday Night Circle Discussion

Our zendo is temporarily closed due due to the coronavirus but our Thursday evening circle discussions are being held online for SMZ members. Please see this page.

Our monthly circle discussion is a time for Sangha reflection.

This regular gathering is an opportunity for Zen practitioners who usually meditate together in silence to come together to reflect on, speak about, and discuss a pertinent Zen topic posed by one of our teachers (who also acts as the evening’s facilitator.)  Sometimes it is about Zen practice, sometimes it is about a Zen-related text, and sometimes it is about related events in our world. What’s important is that it allows Zen practitioners to reflect on and speak about important issues directly related to our lives and to listen and respond to each other’s views and insights – opening us up to a larger perspective.

The gathering follows one period of zazen on a Thursday evening. Please see our calendar for upcoming dates. It is open to both members and non-members. The focus of the evening’s discussion is sent to members ahead of time and is also posted on the bulletin board at the zendo.  We hope you can join us.
